In 1815, by decree of the emperor of the Russian Empire, an arms factory was established in Zlatoust, which became the best in the country; the works of Zlatoust masters were awarded gold and silver medals at international exhibitions around the world. Keeping traditions and gaining experience, Zlatoust masters create masterpieces of decorated weapons today.
The knife is richly decorated with oriental ornaments. The combined hilt is made of metal with leather finger recess, covered with gold-plated wire. Leather prevents the knife from slipping in the hand. Metal surfaces of the hilt have a common style with all-metal scabbard. All elements of the knife are decorated in the technique of Zlatoust metal engraving. The craftsman, using a cutter and a microscope, manually carved a complex oriental ornament on the metal surface. After that, the knife was polished to a mirror shine and plated with pure gold. In addition to visual appeal, gold-plated products acquire a number of functional advantages. They are less susceptible to aggressive external influences, oxidation and corrosion.
The blade of the knife is made of damask steel. Damask steel has something attractive, it is noted by both experts and just lovers of metal items. This is beauty, a raid of centuries of history, and the originality of the resulting patterns.
