It is also called “Chef’s Knife”, “Chef”, or “French Knife”, despite the fact that its original name is “German Chef’s Knife”. The Chef’s knife is a multi-purpose knife. The blade has direct descents, mounting: onlay.
The blade is made of weatherproof composite (damask) steel Zladinox of Zlatoust production. Zladinox (ZLAtoust + Damast + INOX – adable) – under this name, the products of Zlatoust craftsmen gained recognition in the European market for cutters after participating in international exhibitions IWA, Macher Messe Solingen, S.I.C.A.C. (Paris).
The first letters of the name ZDI-1016 is used in the designation of its compositions: ZDI – high-carbon high-alloy (weather-resistant) compositions. The first two digits in the designation correspond to the average carbon content, the second two digits to the average content of alloying elements. High carbon content and the presence of special carbides (chromium, molybdenum, vanadium, etc.) provide the blade with high operational (cutting properties, strength, etc.) and decorative properties.
At the same time, it should be remembered that high carbon content and heterogeneity of the chemical composition in ZDI-1016 somewhat reduces their corrosion resistance.
