The jewerly box case with a hinged lid is made of wood. Outside, the jewerly box is decorated with metal lining plated with gold. The lining surfaces are decorated manually using the traditional technique of skillful engraving which include drawing with a cutter on a metal surface, with a needle on varnish, etching, nickel plating, gilding. Zlatoust engraving on metal is an original, rare Russian folk craft originated in the early XIXth century as a way of decorating author’s edged weapons produced at the Arms Factory. This factory was built by decree of Tsar Alexander I in Zlatoust.
