Drinking tea or koumiss is a long tradition among the peoples of the East. These drinks are drunk from the national type of dishes – bowl – a hemispherical cup without handles. The bowl has been known since the second half of the 1st millennium BC, the early bowls were made of ordinary pottery clay. The shape of bowls is directly related to the nomadic way of life of the ancient peoples who inhabited the territory of present-day Central Asia and Kazakhstan. The round shape without handles made it possible to fold the bowls compactly, one into the other, this was important in the nomadic living conditions.
