Clock – Hourglass

Hourglass began to be used around the XIVth century. This is evidenced by a message dated 1339 found in Paris. It contains instructions on how to treat sand for the hourglass.

Description

Hourglass is an invention counting down time. It consists of two flasks interconnected. Inside they have sand which, pouring from one flask to another, counts a certain period of time which depends on the size of the hourglass itself.

The base is made of wood where a metal frame is attached to. It is decorated with handmade notch. The master manually sawed out patterns and curls of a floral ornament on a sheet of metal. Then, metal surface was covered with patterns in the technique of the Zlatoust (Steel LLC) engraving on metal, in addition, all metal elements are plated with 24K gold. The flask for sand is made of glass and attached to a wooden base.

The hourglass comes with a gift wooden box.
