The set consists of a metal pen and inkwell. The base of the inkwell is black dolerite natural stone. Dolerite is a rock that is called the “black prince” among professional stone cutters. Four legs cast from metal are attached to the base. In the center of the base, there is a metal inkwell decorated with hand-engraved patterns using the Zlatoust technique of engraving on metal. For the second century in a row, the Zlatoust metal engraving is an original and rare kind of Russian craft. It was born at the beginning of the 19th century as a way of decorating author’s edged weapons made at the Armory founded by decree of Emperor Alexander I.
The pen is cast and machined from a metal alloy. Surfaces of all the metal elements of the set are plated with pure gold and nickel. Gilding reduces the impact of an external aggressive environment, oxidation and corrosion. A writing cap is installed on the tip of the pen.
In addition to interior decoration, the set is suitable for a person who is fond of or studying calligraphy. The set is packed in a gift box and is excellent as a gift.
